How to get your stripping license

To get your stripper license, an adult entertainment establishment needs to hire you. To start the job process, look online for reviews of establishments that have openings.

Visit the club at different times to understand the atmosphere and the people who show up and find the best club that suits you. For example, there might be mostly blue-collar lunchtime workers during the day, whereas Friday nights are full of millennials. Also, ascertain the establishment’s rules for those working there before applying for any position.

After you’ve found a club you want to work at, the next step is filling out an application. The form will likely ask for your name, contact information, and basic questions about your experience as a dancer. Once you’ve applied, the club will usually set up an audition for you.

You’ll be asked to strip down to your lingerie and dance for one or two songs at the audition. The point of the audition is for the club’s management to get a sense of your dancing ability and style. After the audition, if the management team likes what they see, they’ll offer you a job and provide information on getting your stripper license.

Steps to get your strip club license

Go to the License Permit Unit

Start your job search by looking up local strip clubs online and listing potential workplaces. When targeting your potential clubs, you may use the ultimate strip club list (TUCL) website for reviews. However, be mindful that some evaluations might not be accurate because they were posted by ex-patrons who were kicked out due to their unruly behaviour.

Fill out an application.

To begin, you must complete the necessary paperwork for an Occupational Tax Certificate. This document is proof that you have applied for a Certificate of Need (CON), and it will be checked during the application process. Please take care when filling out the forms as any discrepancies between your statements and facts may result in your application being voided.

Submit your application

After you have gathered all the required documents, you must submit your application to the License Permit Unit. You can do this in person, by mail, or online. Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed by a case worker who will contact you if there are any questions or concerns.

Pay the application fee

The total cost for the fingerprinting, processing charge and permit for adult entertainment is $270. The only form of payment accepted for these fees are cashier’s checks or money order. Keep in mind that once you file, there is no turning back, as application costs are non-refundable.

Complete a thorough background check

The License Permit Unit will review your records for any pending accusations or ongoing investigations of crimes related to using and selling illegal drugs, moral turpitude, or other sexual-related offenses. You will not be granted an exotic dancer license if you have been convicted of such crimes within the past three years.

Get fingerprinted

After your application has been approved, you will need to get fingerprinted. This can be done at any local law enforcement agency or through a private fingerprinting service. The fingerprints will be sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for a criminal history check.

Receive your permit

Once the FDLE has cleared your criminal history, you will be issued an exotic dancer permit. This permit must be renewed annually and a $100 renewal fee. You will need to keep your permit on you while working in any capacity as an exotic dancer. Failure to do so may result in fines or other penalties.

The validity of an adult entertainment permit

You must renew your adult entertainment permit annually to keep your business running after a year. Your permit’s date of issuance will be the day the License Permit Unit receives payment for it.

The same process will need to be completed for renewal. Ensure that you another SAVE affidavit and correctly fill out the forms. For fees, only pay for two – fingerprinting is not required as they already have your information on file.
